I wanted to update you about my friend Julie. All prayers are appreciated. After reading Valerie's blog about how she met Julie (read her blog here), I wanted to say how I met her too. When I was pregnant with Claire we were actually in the same lamaze class. We didn't really know each other then, but she had her son Adam around the same time as I had Claire. My sister in law, Karen, moved a few months later. I may be getting the exact times confused, but anyway, it turned out that Julie was Karen's new neighbor. We reconnected at a cookout at Karen's house and then again later when Julie called me to be in a playgroup she was starting. I have to agree with Val's post about encouraging your brother's and sister's in Christ when you have the opportunity. I too missed an opportunity with Julie a few weeks ago when she called to invite me to BSF. I didn't return her call, even though I really appreciated her thinking of me.
Here is the latest I have heard.
Good Evening everyone,I talked to Scott about 7 this evening about Julie's day.She had an MRI about 10 a.m. and also saw an entourage of neuro. doctors. Today's diagnosis is that she did have a stroke, and if that is what they are sticking with, the next step is find out what provoked it.She had an evaluation with physical therapy, and Julie has all her motor functions. She may not be A-1, but the fuctions are there, which PT says is a good sign that they can retrain her brain for a full recovery.Scott also said they "took pictures of her neck." She was schedule for an EEG but unfortunately, she had eaten breakfast and they were unable to do the test. The doctors are thinking that some of her tingling/loss of sensation could be because of swelling in her brain. Possibly, when she felt better (like maybe Friday), her swelling was down but then Sunday (when she didn't feel so great), the swelling had increased. He did mention that Julie is emotional - wouldn't we all be if we were in her situation!!! Scott was apprehensive about visitors at this point. Both families are still there so there are plenty of people coming and going. Please be advised that he did not say NO VISITORS; however, he did say if people wanted to see Julie, he would caution long visits. She needs her rest! That's about it for tonight. I asked him if they needed anything and he did mention that Jason had a rough time leaving his mom today! I told him I would ask that all of you remember to lift up the boys in prayer. As "normal" as everyone is trying to keep their routine, I am sure it is still stressful for them.I also ask that you keep Scott in your prayers. He sounded exhausted! And don't forget about the doctors who are working to get Julie back to health! And, of course, our sister in Christ - Julie!!!!
