Claire is doing much better. She still has a horrible cough, but she has finished her antibiotics. We have all had whatever it is she brought home. We made it to soccer practice tonight and she did much better than last week. I wasn't sure if we would be coming back at all after last week's practice. I took the kids by myself and we all left in tears last week.
Well. I have been casually asking Claire if she still wants to play soccer. She really doesn't like it this year. I am not sure why. Joel and I took the weekend to think about sending Claire to a dance class as well. It seems that to be in dance, you have to sign up now and it goes through the whole year. I know she will enjoy it. We went to the placement class for dance tonight and then to soccer practice right after that. We told Claire that she has to finish out soccer this year. She can't quit. I quit every lesson I was in when I was in school. I quit violin. I quit piano 2 years in a row right before the recital. I really wanted to take dance class. I took it when I was in 5th grade- I was in the beginning class with preschoolers when I was this giant 5th grader with a changing body wearing a leotard. I was very self conscious. I quit that too right before the recital. I felt everyone would be laughing at me. It's okay to laugh now. :)
Claire did great at her practice tonight. She even seemed to have a little bit of fun. I think one of the girls on her team may also be in her dance class. I think that will help her bond with the team better. I actually stepped in to help assist the coach when the real assistant didn't show. It is strange to me- all the other parents just sit there and don't even encourage their kids to obey the coach. It was apparent that he needed help tonight. Basically just getting the kids to stay in line or wait their turn. I think he appreciated the help.
Joel and I are always like, we're not going to be those parents who sign their kids up for everything and have their schedules full all the time. We basically said they could do one thing a year if they wanted. Here we are already breaking our own rules. Oh me.
