I thought we would spend this weekend at the pool, but we didn't make it over there once. We decided to go to a park Saturday morning and have a picnic. We headed to Bucyrus to a park we don't visit that often.
First, we stopped at a yard sale and found some great bargains. I spent $8. We came home with a steam cleaner for our carpet, a pair of shoes, a turtle lamp with an amber shade, a glass cake stand, 2 skirts and 3 pairs of shorts for Claire, 2 boxes full of matches, and 2 soap dishes from Longaberger. What a deal! I just love yard sales. I have to watch it though, cause isn't my goal to get rid of our junk?! I don't want to be bringing home other people's. At yard sales people with good intentions are always trying to give my kids 'free' toys. I am always like, we just got rid of that same thing at our yard sale!
We ate our lunch at the park and then went on a short hike. It was very nice. They had a suspension bridge that was pretty fun (and scary) to walk across. Joel thought it would be funny to rock the bridge knowing my fear of them! Anyway- the kids really enjoyed themselves. It is so fun to see them exploring and pretending. I realized once again that Chloe isn't a baby anymore, we didn't need a stroller ( we haven't needed one all summer- why did I need to buy that new one again?) and she loved walking on the trail. Whenever we came out of the woods or over the bridge, she would say "Yea! We did it!" and clap her hands.
We enjoyed a little bit of play at the playground. Collin was called a baby by some boys who were almost the same age as him and he was very offended. He just came and told me, "They said I am a baby, but I'm not. I'm not a baby." Just matter of fact. I assured him he isn't a baby, but a big boy and he was fine. It is nice to see he can stick up for himself.
We headed home after a stop at Wal-mart for a few things. We had a nice time and I wonder why we don't do it more often. We are planning a picnic at the Zoo this week and Joel will be along for that. The kids get so excited when they know Daddy is going to come too. Good times.
