I made Claire some pancakes while Joel woke her up. She came down and was excited for school. We had laid out her clothes the night before and put them in my room so she wouldn't wake up Chloe. She really wanted to wear her hair down, but I convinced her to wear it up since there is no air conditioning at the school! That is just crazy to me. Anyway, we were completely ready with lunch made and all by 7:10 am.
The bus came around 7:30. It goes by our house and then turns around and comes back. We had a few mintues to get outside and ready for our goodbyes. Chloe was up by now. She kept saying 'bye!'
As the bus drove up I almost forgot to take a picture and didn't even notice the crying baby behind me. Claire walked right up on the bus without a look back. She is so brave. The bus driver had to tell her to turn around and look at me for the picture. We waved as the bus drove away.
It all happened so fast! I hardly had time to feel the emotions I thought I would. Then, I saw Chloe who was crying. She wanted to get on the bus with Claire! As we were wallking up the driveway, Collin was standing with the front door open. He wanted to know where Claire was. He said to me with tears in his eyes, "I wanted to say goodbye to her!" I guess I should have woken him up.
I sat on the couch with 2 crying babies and shed a few tears myself. I don't know how many more will be shed today and next week. It will be so different to not have Claire here. I know I will be glad and sad at the same time. New adventures await me! I am off to the store with Collin and Chloe. Can you believe it? Only 2 kids to take!
