It's Hunting Season

Last week Joel went hunting. I was happy to hear him tell the story of how he shot his buck on Tuesday! That meant that I would be able to do a few things later in the week and he would have no reason not to watch the kids. It has been a few years since he has actually shot a deer. Now what are we going to do with the meat? He brought some home last night and put it in our freezer. Claire wants to eat it, Collin and I don't and who knows about Chloe. Maybe I haven't given it a fair chance. I have only tried one recipe, so maybe I will have to try one more. If that doesn't work out, that will be the last time. Does anyone have any good venison recipes?

Sorry no recipes here. Keith dreams of the day he brings one home. He didn't grow up hunting, so it might be awhile.

AWESOME, Joel!! Congratulations!

Yay, Joel!
I had deer burgers at my friend Maggie's house, I could call her and ask her. They were decent, a little dry, though.

Oh, Jenny....consider yourself lucky! I want Matt to get a deer so bad, so we can be in ground meat all winter! I'm not big on venison roasts or steaks. However, if you get it ground or in stew meat....you really cannot tell the difference in a chili, stew or sauce. Really. It will save you tons of money, it's healthier and you really won't know it's not beef. The only time I find venison too gamey tasting is if it's all by itself in a steak or roast. But, I use it all the time in chili and beef stew and spaghetti sauce.

By the way, I read your blog all the time, but I was having trouble commenting. Everytime I tried, my computer would freeze. This is the first time it's worked in forever! So I'll take the opportunity to tell you why I haven't commented!! :)

Who cares about the meat. Just be sure you move the picture over your bed so he can mount that nice head there!
