An Event FULL Day!

Yesterday was a very event Full day! Claire didn't have school yesterday so, I wanted to do something fun. I really should have stayed home to get some house work done, but you have to take advantage of these memory making opportunities!

First, we headed to Delaware to go to Lehner's Pumpkin Patch with some friends from our playgroup. It was windy, but a perfect day for pumpkin picking! They had a lot to choose from. We took a wagon out in the field and picked some great pumpkins. Chloe had a little trouble walking in the field. She kept getting 'stuck' in the vines. Collin and Claire each had their own wagons to pull. Collin wanted a white pumpkin and Claire wanted about 6 mini pumpkins. I told her she could have 2. This started the bad attitude that you can see in some of the pictures.

After pumpkin picking the kids enjoyed rolling down a hill near our picnic sight. We ate our lunches there and a great time was had by all! By this time Claire had perked back up. I think it was the rolling down the hill that brought her spirit back. I don't know how they do it. I would be so sick now, if I rolled down a hill. I can't even do a summer sault without getting dizzy!

We spent the rest of the afternoon at my mom's house working on baby shower invitations with my sisters. The kids enjoyed playing at grandma's house even though she wasn't there. She and my dad were on a trip to Arizona!

Around 4 we got ready to go to Boo at the Zoo! We met Trish and her kids there. You will never guess who we saw there! It was the Amazing Spider Man. The kids loved it. The program was a little too long. Collin really wanted to meet him. I felt bad, cause he can't pick everyone to come on stage. Plus, Collin probably wouldn't talk anyway. Who knows, maybe he would talk to Spiderman! Claire was picked to go on stage though. She went up there and was supposed to answer some questions about safety. They were multiple choice questions. A, B, or C. Claire's answer was, 'Yes'. Spidey asked the question again and her answer was, 'Yes'. So, he said the right answer and Claire responded with another, 'yes'. So technically she answered right. Thanks Spidey! She won 2 prizes that she happily shared with Collin and Seth. Some pins and a key chain. It was pretty exciting to see Spiderman up there. I hope the kids remember it. I remember when my mom took us to see Darth Vader at Lazarus when we were little. It was pretty cool!

Boo at the Zoo is pretty fun event. It is going on this weekend and next. We are zoo members, so it is free. The kids went trick or treating while enjoying lights and animals and of course Spiderman. We stayed until about 8. Longer than we normally would stay at the zoo, but the kids were having a good time and we only do this once a year! On our way out of the zoo we had 2 things that weren't so great happen. One with Chloe. She got a few people behind me and was calling out for me. I stopped so she could catch up and an older kid in a scary alien face costume stopped right in front of Chloe and just stared at her. When she noticed him, she started screaming and crying. The mother of this kids scolded him, but that was it. I just hope she doesn't have nightmares! The instinct to scream when you are scared starts so young! It is a strange reaction isn't it? I do it though. :) Anyway. I calmed her down. She was worried he was going to come back.

The second thing that happened is that Claire ate some candy she wasn't supposed to. We were driving out of the zoo and she started crying for water. I was like, why are you crying about it? She told me that her tongue was itchy. I knew then what had happened. She was told and promised me she wasn't' going to eat any candy until I checked it all. Well, she ate a tootsie roll. She knows she is allergic to these. I was going to give her her epi-pen shot, but decided to wait about 10-15 minutes mostly because she is like a crazy person when she has to get a shot. When we made it to Delaware she was hacking and couldn't breath through her nose and her eyes were very puffy. I knew I had to give her the shot. From 1 tootsie roll! It is very hard to restrain her by myself with a needle in one hand! I finally was able to do it and she was okay the rest of the trip home. She asked me what letter milk started with out of the blue. She must be trying to figure out how to read labels now. It is just a reminder to me how scary holidays are since they are mostly about candy and food! I told Claire that she could die if she didn't get her shot and that people do die from food allergies. I hope she has learned her lesson!

Besides that, the day was very fun and hopefully fun for all!
