I guess you can say harvest has officially started around here. Joel has combined a few days here and there but there were never enough beans ready to go full force. They have been working 2 full days now, so the beans must be ready.
It is day 2 of Joel being in the field and me being home alone constantly with the kids! I am already exhausted. Joel didn't get home until the kids were in bed last night and it went mostly okay. There was a little trauma when Claire noticed her fish had died. She wanted to sleep with it. Collin's fish died over the weekend, so I changed the water last night in an attempt to save Chloe's fish. All is well so far.
I haven't heard from Joel today, so he must be busy in the field and coming home late again. The way of the farmer. You are to just know this. I have learned not to ask, "when will you be home?" because he will not give an answer. Since we have been married I have tried to get him to communicate to me a little bit concerning whether he would be here for dinner or not. That would be nice to know. I don't get as frustrated as I used to. At least I have the kids here to keep me busy. Time flies. When you are alone, it seems to go slower. Sometimes I will bring him some food to the field and the kids will ride with their daddy in the combine. Hopefully they will have fond memories of this when they grow up!
Say a prayer for my patience and energy level in the coming weeks!
