Well. One of my fears has become reality. Claire came home from school today coughing. She seemed okay spirit wise, so I didn't pay much attention. At dinner she said she wasn't hungry and she wanted to lay down. As I was sitting with her on the couch, she felt warm to me. She said she didn't eat her lunch today and that she was crying at lunch time. When the teacher asked her what was wrong, she said she wanted me. That doesn't really seem like Claire. It took her 3 hours of being home to tell me this anyway! I took her temperature and it was 100.6. She said she wasn't having trouble breathing. We haven't had to give her any breathing treatments since last winter. It seemed like her asthma was under control. August and September are the highest months for asthma in children seen at the hospital. The last 2 days I have seen an air quality alert on the news. They say people with Asthma should stay inside with air conditioning. Well. Ridgedale doesn't have air conditioning. I just have this ache in the pit of my stomach. Anyway, Claire was laying down on my bed when we were getting the kids ready for bed. I heard her wheezing like I haven't heard in a long time. She had dozed off and it just reminds me of all the hospital stays we have had in the past. I wish I had done something sooner. We got out the nebulizer and started her breathing treatments. I think I am going to get out the orapred as well. She may have to miss her 4th day of school. :( I thought we would make it farther than that. Please keep us in your prayers the next couple of days and weeks ahead. Here, I was worried about her food allergy and the asthma has hit us first.
Also, Collin is having a play-based assessment tomorrow at 1 pm. We are going to be having speech therapy for him at the school and an in home visitation on a weekly basis. Our prayers for this is that he will actually talk to the teacher/speech therapist and that he will begin to improve in his speech. This will make him more confident in his speech and less frustrating for all of us!

So sorry about Claire...I hope she feels better soon! A good speech therapist can make a huge difference. My friend's little guy started therapy when he was 3 b/c he was really having trouble and hardly understandable. After 2 yrs of speech therapy, he sounds like a completely normal 5 yr old. It's good you're getting on it right away!
I came to you from Valerie's blog. :)
I am praying for them both too and for peace for the rest of you. I have 1 who uses the nebulizer when he gets sick, and one in speech therapy; so I pray for miracles. :)
